At first, the Baywatch and Fate of The Furious actor becoming president of the US was somewhat of a mix between rumors and hopeful fans letting their voices be heard, but now, in one of the biggest celebrity twists you’ll hear in 2017, The Rock has actually filed for president.
His file was issued and documented by the Federal Election Commission, an establishment of an organization apparently called “Run the Rock 2020”, and the candidate name is listed as “Dwayne Douglas Johnson” which is indeed The Rock’s full birth name, including his middle name.
The paperwork was filed on behalf of the actor by a man named Kenton Tilford, who is also listed as the treasurer. Putting down a West Virginia address, the motivations behind the act and his connections to the actor are unclear so far. Johnson hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, so the whole thing may not just be ready to go public yet.
A website also exists that is also named runtherock.com, except the domain is currently unused. Even though Johnson has mostly joked about this topic in public, he actually has showed a growing interest to run the office, and now, that dream may or may not come true for him.
Last year, rumor was spread that he was filing for president at that time, and he spoke about the media furor on Instagram:
“More and more pieces like this are popping up due to the Presidential election and they’re cool/fun to read… I care DEEPLY about our country… and the idea of one day becoming President to create real positive impact and global change is very alluring.”
Let’s just hope that if The Rock becomes president, he makes the US just as badass as him and the movies he appears in.
